A brief outline of the game idea is as follows:
- Zombie apocalypse setting (overdone I know, but it's the gameplay that's important, not the story)
- Roguelike gameplay, with a mixture of RPG elements and realism (e.g. guns instead of magic and MP)
- "Intelligent difficulty AI" - i.e. every game should be technically winnable (though not easy to win, and most games should end in loss like a good roguelike), difficulty should adjust based on the player's current status to account for randomness preventing the player from winning instead of the player's own skills and decisions
- Basic storyline
- At least four different environments, each with unique play styles (e.g. rural area composed of fields and woods, fewer zombies but also fewer resources, city area with more resources but significantly more enemies, suburbia area with a mixture of enemies and resources, more "practical" resources such as food than weapons)
- Weapon and tool crafting system for environment navigation
- A multitude of different enemy types and bosses, as well as encounters and ways to handle them
- [Tentative, possibly not depending on the difficulty of implementation] Multiplayer interactions, preset level designs for certain "challenge runs," a level editor so players can create their own levels
- And more. Wouldn't be fun if I talked about everything here, eh? ;)
- Attending a Japanese university to study the Japanese language (and a few classes on culture and history). This was a waste of time, overall; the language classes were far too easy and slow, and the elective classes were boring, pointless wastes of time. I didn't enjoy university overall too much.
- Made many friends, both foriegn and Japanese. I could write books about my adventures with them.
- Visited many places in the Kansai area, such as Kyoto.
- Ate lots and lots of delicious Japanese food.
- Nightly stories of drunken debauchery.
- Started working as an English teacher at several different schools
- Began dating my girlfriend
- Got fired from one of my jobs
- Became homeless because I couldn't pay the increased rent at my house, lived with friends and girlfriends. Finally just moved in with my girlfriend to make everyone's financial situation easier.
